APCO Australasia recognises the outstanding achievement of individuals and teams within the Public Safety Sector. These awards are aimed to encourage industry professionals to excel personally and professionally and reward those who go beyond the call of duty.
Awards are presented during the annual Conference & Exhibition and recipients receive a complimentary one year APCO Australasia membership and a complimentary full delegate pass.
Anyone within the public safety sector can nominate or be nominated for these awards and all submissions are considered by the selection committee.
2011 Awards & Nominations
APCO Australasia is pleased to announce the following award categories for presentation at the 2011 APCO Australasia Conference & Exhibition.
2011 APCO Australasia Communications Officer Award
This award will be presented to the communications officer or combined team who has had a direct impact on the resolution of an incident or made a substantial contribution resulting in the improvement of an agency.
2011 APCO Australasia Public Safety Award
This award will recognise the outstanding dedication of a person or combined team who has performed selflessly or heroically in an emergency situation and goes beyond the call of duty.
Nominations
Nominations are limited to events and developments occurring between 1 January 2010 and 31 December 2010. Nominations must be submitted by no later than 31 December 2010 to be considered by the selection committee. The recipients of these awards are selected by a panel of individuals who represent Public Safety & Communications across Australasia.

2010 APCO Australasia Public Safety Innovation Award
Presented to the National Emergency Warning System Project Team for outstanding commitment to the protection of the Australian community. The award was accepted by Joe Buffone, Deputy Commissioner, Office of the Emergency Services Commissioner (Victoria).
2008 Communications Officer of the Year Award
Presented to John Hughes, NSW Police in recognition for his outstanding work within the Penrith Communications Centre in NSW.
